Our very first prospect is, alas, dead – Costs Hicks. Hicks was a traditional comedian who worked his way up through the ranks. A devoted proponent of drug usage for much of his career, he was so ground breaking that you can discover much of his act in the acts of other comedians. Dennis Leary seems to have really liked him. The band Tool samples his handles their albums. He is maybe best known for his bit on the killing of President Kennedy. You can look it up on YouTube. Hicks died when he was 33 from pancreatic cancer.
If it’s in a handbook, if it’s the accepted wisdom, if you can discover it in a Dummies book, then think what? It’s uninteresting, not remarkable. Part of exactly what it takes to do something amazing is to do something first and best. Roger Bannister was amazing. The next individual, the man who broke Bannister’s record had not been. He was just much faster. but it does not matter.
