A supermarket worker has appeared in court accused of having copies of a bomb making manual and instructions on how to join terror group Islamic State.
Ryan Counsell, 28, is charged with two offences of possession of material likely to be useful to a person preparing an act of terrorism, contrary to Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
He allegedly had six copies of terrorist publication Inspire, with bomb making instructions titled “how to make a bomb in the kitchen of your mum”, and “Hijrah to the Islamic State”, which included instructions on how to travel to Syria and join IS, at his home in Russell Road, Hyson Green, Nottingham.

He appeared in the dock at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday with a full beard, wearing a grey t-shirt, tracksuit bottoms and spoke only to confirm his details.
Counsell was arrested on Monday after an intelligence-led investigation by Nottinghamshire Police and the North East Counter Terrorism Unit.
He was remanded in custody and ordered to appear at the Old Bailey on 5 August for a preliminary hearing.
