Mt St Helens is spectacular in every sense of the word. You can see it on TV when they show the explosion or the steam escaping form the top. You can watch a movie about it. It just doesn’t do it justice. We only had the chance to go to one visitor center, but it was the best from what everyone told us. The Johnston Ridge Visitor Center was excellent for our family. There was a small fee for parking, but you could go inside for free and then pay a little more for the movie. That was worth it as well. The view is amazing. Just hold on to your kids. Strollers are permitted and needed with young children.
Yellowstone’s unparalleled array of hydrothermal features–geysers, hot springs, mud pots, and steam vents–provide evidence of the volcano polution beneath our feet.
