A joint venture between The Pokemon Company, Nintendo and app developer Niantic Labs, GO differs from the usual handheld Pokemon video games by focusing less on battles and more on moving around in the real world to find creatures and claim territory.
You’ll get a single candy from that Pokemon every time you do so, which is immensely helpful given the amount of Pokemon you’ll need to catch to evolve anything valuable (like a Gyarados). Doing so will get you Candy for the Pokemon you transfered, which you can then collect to eventually evolve that Pokemon. Niantic Labs, Nintendo and the Pokémon Company kicked off a the Pokémon Go Field Test earlier this year.
Firstly, you can get most or all of those items at any Pokestop, and you can earn in-game currency by installing your powerful Pokemon at a gym to control it. But when you start seeing orange and red rings, you’ll want to maximise your chances of success as much as you can — especially once you start trying to capture Pokemon with Great and Master Balls.
When you do eventually spot a Pokemon you want to catch, you can change to Augmented Reality mode which uses your smartphone camera to view the Pokemon standing in front of you, in your physical environment.
